Minutes of Opening Banquet
April 22, 2008
Social Hour: 5:30 to 6:15 PM
Dinner: 6:20 PM

Mary Boucher offered a golfer’s prayer.
After dinner, WGA President Jean VerPlanck introduced herself, welcomed everyone and introduced gave the floor to Club President Stan Arnold.
President Arnold spoke of his strengths in the areas of fiscal responsiveness and responsibility. He made everyone aware that fees are increasing. He spoke of the long-range plan to replace equipment. He mentioned that it is very dry on hole 15, perhaps because of earlier construction on hole 8. The area has been re-graded with little result.
He discussed Club staffing.
He has encouraged all members to provide feedback regarding course/physical plant changes. Please send any comments through e-mail.
There have been some problems with people using the course as a practice facility. There will be a 2-week suspension of playing privileges if you are found to be disrespectful of the course.
WGA President VerPlanck introduced Rich Thibeault, Club Pro.
Rich spoke of the harsh winter. He discussed his staffing changes. Pat McNichols is attending the San Diego Golf School and will not be returning this year. Trevor Fuller will be taking his place. Peter has returned.
All of last years merchandise is 50% off the regular price.
Rich’s prediction: Pat Stefanides has purchased new clubs and could well be the new club champion for 2008. Her old set was of 1970’s vintage.
The Business Meeting began a 7:05 PM.
President VerPlanck asked Rich to explain the U-Vest Training System. Rich has used this as a training tool for member instruction over the winter months.
She reminded members that driving range privileges are now part of the regular membership and encouraged its use.
She thanked Colleen Cleveland, Club Manager and Bob McLean, Club Chef and their staffs for a great dinner and service.
The Board Members were introduced.
New member Patti Nixon was introduced.
Old Business:
The Treasurer’s Report was read and accepted and stands for audit.
The Secretary’s Report was read and accepted.
The dates for Spring League, Twilight League and 9-Hole League were announced.

New Business:
Shirts have been designed for Interclub players. The order form will be sent via the Internet.
Tournament chairs were announced.
The CCC Representative to the NHWGA is being partnered between Pat Stefanides and Cynthia Ross. The index or eligibility is 25.0.
Repairs to the locker room have been made over the winter but more work needs to be done. A discussion ensued regarding future repairs and the possibility of installing a TV.
A committee was formed to devise a long-range plan for the locker room. Members of this committee include Jean VerPlanck, Chair, Ruthie Gaskell, Cynthia Ross, Irene Wright and Brenda Evans.
Brenda Evans has agreed to oversee the locker room this year.
Cynthia Ross and Martha Hastings will be hosting the Tournament of Champions (State Women’s Tournament) and are looking for volunteers.
A Tournament Procedures and Guidelines form will be used for tournaments this year.
There was discussion regarding the Opening Banquet and the fact that it was changed from morning to evening to accommodate Twilight League members. The turn out of these members was slight enough that some members were wondering if we should consider going back to mornings.
Cynthia Ross discussed new rules.
President VerPlanck adjourned the meeting at 7:54 PM.
