2008 ~ THURSDAY DAY LEAGUE ~ 2008

Welcome to the 2008 edition of the Thursday Day League.  We would like to again thank New Hampshire Distributors, Inc. for their continued support of our league.  Thanks to Rich Thibeault and his entire staff for everything they do which makes our golf that much more enjoyable.  Lastly, we appreciate the work Peter Tasillo did in preparing the schedule.

REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE ~ TEE TIMES

Official start to the regular season is May 8th with one practice week leading up to the 16 week regular season schedule which ends on August 21st.            We will tee from the first hole only during the entire season. The first of your two times should always be the A player.

TIMELY PLAY

We all want to enjoy the weather and camaraderie on the course, however we urge each of you to be ready to play your own shot as soon as it’s your turn.  We maintain that all players should move ahead, alert and off to the side and preparing to play your own ball as your partner or opponent gets ready for his shot.  Please keep pace with the group in front of you.  Let’s aim for all groups to play in less than 4:15 minutes.  BE AWARE!  If you find your group behind by more than a hole, we urge your group to discuss your pace and make every effort to pick up the pace to decrease the gap.

RAIN

Call the shop if you have any question.  If carts are not allowed on the course, the matches will be cancelled.

TEMPORARY SUSPENSIONS OF PLAY

This guideline was developed in cooperation with the Pro Shop.  From the time the horn sounds, we will allow for a maximum of a 90 minute delay (depending on the actual time) before calling or resuming play.  If there is a second delay, it will be a maximum of 60 minutes.  Teams are required to finish the matches if play resumes.  See rules in section titled “Playing Shorthanded ~ Substitutes” apply.   When play has been cancelled, if 75% of the teams have completed play, those results will stand, while the remaining 25% of the field will split the remaining points of their match.

PLAYING SHORTHANDED ~ SUBSTITUTES

Occasionally, teams will be forced to play short one team member.  We urge each of you to do your best to fill that opening with a substitute.  Please notify the Pro Shop prior to them writing up the cards Thursday morning.  If you are forced to play short two players, the remaining two players must split up and play as singles.  Any team who is short three team members for their Thursday match will automatically drop two positions in the standings at the end of the regular season.  Should it ever happen a second time further penalties may occur.  The opponents two-man team will receive the maximum number of points any two-man team posted that day.  One option may be to ask a Thursday night player to play as many holes as possible before his regular league match begins.

We have included a substitute list below, however, all regular and senior members are eligible, (no juniors) and there are no handicap requirements.

MATCHES

Each team in each division will play one match against the other 10 teams in their division and 6 cross-over matches.

Strokes are calculated using the 80% rule.  This season, scoring will again be on a 40-point basis.  Two points are awarded for winning a hole and one point for tying a hole.   An additional 4 points are awarded for winning the match.  Please submit your scorecards to the golf shop staff member collecting match results in the lounge within 15 minutes of finishing your match.

CLOSEST TO THE PINS
Two closest to the pins will be selected weekly, one from each side.  One will be on a par three and the other will be on a short par 4 for the second shot during the (16 weeks) regular season.  In addition to your regular pro shop credit, the two winners will have their choice of Michelob / Michelob Light merchandise at the pro shop compliments of New Hampshire Distributors, Inc. We ask that the last group out to please bring in the paper cards with you and turn them in.  Winners will be posted weekly and you should
pick up your award weekly from the Pro Shop.

TEAM OF THE WEEK
The selected 4 person team of the week during the (16 week) regular season will have their choice of either Michelob / Michelob Light - Heineken / Amstel Light or Redhook IPA / Widmer Hefeweizen 12 pack bottles which will be available to you at the end of year banquet.

PLAYOFF CHALLENGE MATCHES

The last four weeks (August 28th,  September 4th, 11th & 25th) will be the Challenge Matches.  Please note we do not play on September 18th.  We have been asked to tee from the first tee only for the Challenge Matches in 2008.  We will not be allowing for any rainouts during the Challenge Matches.

CHAMPION AND BANQUET

The team who earns the most points over the course of the entire season (regular and challenge) will be the 2008 Men’s League Champion.  Please note, in a case of a Challenge Match rainout on the last week, the winners will be determined from the last match played.  We will hold our banquet on Thursday September 25th beginning around 6:30 pm regardless of play.

PROPER CARE FOR OUR COURSE

Properly repair the following; ball marks on the green; divots in the fairway and rough; rake the traps from your shot as well as your footprints; leave the rake out of the way from a potential shot to the green.  In addition, help save the grass by parking your cart entirely on the cart path, not half or completely off.

If you have any questions, pleased don’t hesitate to contact any one of us.

Thank You
